Even before my hands got so bad, I was never adept at cutting herbs into tiny shreds. Now it's impossible for me...until this wonderful little microplane gizmo appeared as a gift. Make sure your herb leaves are not wet or damp, and you'll get the most fabulous fine grate. It disappears into my salads, but the flavor is everywhere. It's decorative atop soups or tea sandwiches. It even looks fabulous decorating a sandwich plate!
